Start of currency exchange: - 14.03.1950: Start of issuance of the new banknotes (dated 02.01.1950), additionally Dutch coins were put into circulation - 30.03.1950: End of withdrawal period for the Netherlands Indies (Bank of Java and NICA) paper money and coins, the amounts collected had to be deposited in blocked accounts - 04.03.1953: Government resolution ["Beschikking Afwikkeling Geldsanering", No. 55] on the partial confiscation of deposits in Netherlands Indies Guilder (including the ones from the withdrawn cash): 40% are exchanged 1 : 1 in New Guinean Guilder, the rest is invalidated.

Parity with the Netherlands Guilder, therefore fixed against the US Dollar. The West New Guinea currency was not valid in the rest of Indonesia, the conversion between Indonesian and West New Guinea currency was done at 1 West New Guinea Rupiah = 12.43 Indonesian Rupiah plus an "exchange subsidy" of 74.58 Indonesian Rupiah: effectively 1 West New Guinea Rupiah = 87.01 Indonesian Rupiah. - After the devaluation of 17.04.1964 the "exchange subsidy" was raised to 127.69 Indonesian Rupiah: effectively 1 West New Guinea Rupiah = 140.12 Indonesian Rupiah (nominal rate would be 143.65). - The Indonesian currency reform of December 1965 did not introduce any change, the new banknotes were not introduced before 1967.
