  • Introduction of Indian and East African currency during the World War I occupation, the German East African currency remained in circulation at rate of 1 German East African Rupee = 1 Indian Rupee = 110 British Pound.
    - The so-called "interim notes", issued 1915-1916, and "bush notes, issued 1917, of the German East African Bank were declared invalid without compensation. The regular notes of 1905-1912 were no longer in circulation.
