- Sultan's decree [Currency Decree, No. 3] on the establishment of the Zanzibar Currency Board an the creation of the national currency; effective upon constitution of the board on 01.04.1908:
- Legal tender status was given to the Board's currency notes, Indian silver coinage and local (decimal) subsidiary coins.
- 02.12.1909: Sultan's decree [Currency (Amendment) Decree, No. 21], providing for an additional denomination of the currency notes; effective immediately.
- 06.04.1911: Sultan's decree [Currency (Amendment) Decree, No. 2], giving additional legal tender status to British gold coins, at 1 British pound = 15 Zanzibari Rupees, and local (non-decimal) copper subsidiary coins; effective immediately.
