Grammar of Counting
- Adaptation of the Number to the Counted Noun
- Numbers 1-5, 8 adopt the word class of the noun, e.g. for word class 5 (prefix "Ø-") "moja, mbili, tatu, nne, tano, (), nane". Numbers 6, 7, 9 and higher are nouns of word class 5.
- Adaptation of the Counted Noun to the Number
- Number 1 is followed by the noun in the singular word class, 2 and higher by the noun in the corresponding plural word class.
- Comments on the Grammar
- Flexion is done by prefixes. Word class 5 of abstract objects, which also contains all foreign loan words, does not have a corresponding plural word class, means the words are identical in singular and plural.
